Who We Are
The San Mateo Police Department Public Safety Volunteer Program (PSVP) is a voluntary unit comprised of members from our community. Volunteers assist in performing a wide variety of field and Administrative work which does not require peace officer training, experience and authority. Our volunteers are a very important asset, assisting us in expanding our capacity and further developing our partnership with our community. Some volunteer opportunities include:
- General Police Volunteers
- Neighborhood Block Captains
- Neighborhood Traffic Safety Volunteers
- Police Explorers
What We Do
The City of San Mateo recognizes the vast resources of experience and skills that rest within our city. The volunteer program’s ultimate purpose and function is to supplement and assist Patrol, Support, Investigative, Community and Administrative Service Units of the department in our efforts to serve the citizens of the City of San Mateo.
