Love books and music? Help sort the many books and other media that are donated daily at the San Mateo Public Library. Learn to prepare these materials for sale by selecting, pricing and attractively displaying them in the Friends Book Sale Area. Work with visitors and shoppers in the sale area or community outreach selecting and distributing free books to schools, senior centers, senior care facilities and housing.

Time Commitment: We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months, 1 2-hour shift once a week 

Training: Two 2-hour shifts and attending volunteer orientation. 

Must be available to help with Friends of the Library Fall Book Sale in September. This year volunteer assistance will be needed from September 16th through the 22nd. One shift is required.

Volunteer’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the following tasks:

Keeping donation area clear, clean and organizedEnsuring the public follow donation guidelines posted on our door and websiteRestocking the bookstore shelves Being able to volunteer independently and knowing when to switch tasks Following the guidelines for our Amazon/eBay StorefrontLeaving the area clean and organized for the next volunteer
